Power Projects Secures Grid Compliance Studies for a 150 MW RTC Renewable Energy Project

We are pleased to announce that Power Projects has been awarded a Pre-Commissioning Grid Compliance Study for a 150 MW Round-the-Clock (RTC) renewable energy project integrating solar power, wind power, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

This assignment focuses on evaluating the electrical performance of the integrated renewable energy system, validating its response under different grid operating conditions, and supporting compliance with applicable grid connectivity requirements.

About the Study

The project involves a comprehensive grid compliance assessment of a hybrid renewable energy system combining solar generation, wind generation, and battery energy storage. The objective is to assess the plant’s electrical performance and demonstrate its capability to operate reliably under various grid conditions.

The study covers steady-state analysis using PSS®E, power quality assessment using PSCAD, and dynamic performance evaluation using both RMS and EMT simulation platforms. Detailed and equivalent plant models will be developed and validated up to the Point of Interconnection (POI) to assess the system’s response under different operating scenarios and grid disturbances.

Scope of Work

  • Steady-State Grid Compliance Analysis using PSS®E
  • Detailed and Equivalent RMS Plant Model Development
  • EMT Model Development using PSCAD
  • Plant Model Validation and Benchmarking
  • Reactive Power Capability and P–Q Analysis
  • Short Circuit Study
  • Power Quality Assessment, including Harmonic Analysis up to the 50th Order
  • DC Current Injection Assessment
  • Flicker Analysis
  • Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) Study
  • High Voltage Ride Through (HVRT) Study
  • Operating Frequency Range Assessment
  • Frequency Response Study
  • Active Power Ramping Capability Assessment
  • Dynamic Performance Evaluation under Different Grid Conditions
  • Grid Compliance Assessment against Applicable Connectivity Requirements

Key Outcomes

The studies will provide a comprehensive assessment of the plant’s ability to meet applicable grid connectivity requirements while maintaining reliable performance under normal operating conditions and grid disturbances.

The analysis will evaluate reactive power capability, power quality, voltage and frequency response, ride-through performance, and active power ramping behaviour. Model validation and benchmarking will also support consistency between RMS and EMT simulation results.

These assessments will help identify potential grid integration challenges and support technically sound decisions for the reliable operation of the renewable energy system.

This project award further strengthens Power Projects’ expertise in Grid Compliance Studies, Hybrid Renewable Energy Integration, Battery Energy Storage Systems, RMS & EMT Simulations, and Advanced Power System Modelling.

We thank our client for the trust and opportunity and look forward to delivering technically robust engineering solutions that support reliable and compliant renewable energy integration.
