Load Flow, Short Circuit & Protection

About the Studies

The assignment involves detailed analysis of the electrical network using DIgSILENT PowerFactory. The studies will assess steady-state operating conditions, fault behaviour, and the coordination of protective devices across the network.

The scope covers multiple power transformers and associated electrical distribution systems, with the objective of evaluating network performance and strengthening protection reliability.

Scope of Work

  • Load Flow Study
  • Short Circuit Study
  • Relay Coordination Study
  • Unit Protection Study
  • Bus Voltage Profile and Branch Loading Assessment
  • Voltage Drop and Network Loss Analysis
  • Reactive Power Requirement Assessment
  • Three-Phase and Earth Fault Analysis
  • Overcurrent and Earth Fault Protection Coordination
  • Transformer Differential Protection Assessment
  • Restricted Earth Fault Protection Assessment
  • Time-Current Characteristic (TCC) Curve Analysis
  • Engineering Recommendations for Improved Protection Coordination

Key Outcomes

The studies will provide a detailed understanding of network operating conditions, fault current levels, and protective device performance.

The assessment will support improved voltage regulation, identification of potential network constraints, appropriate protection settings, selective fault isolation, and enhanced electrical system reliability.

This project award further strengthens Power Projects’ expertise in Load Flow Analysis, Short Circuit Studies, Relay Coordination, and Transformer Protection for medium-voltage electrical networks.

We thank our client for the trust and opportunity and look forward to delivering technically sound engineering solutions that support reliable and safe power system operation.
