Voltage Levels
33 kV & 11 kV

About the Studies

The project involves comprehensive power system analysis, including grid impact assessment, generator dynamic performance evaluation, power quality assessment, and relay coordination for the plant’s electrical network.

Advanced simulation tools, including PSS®E, PSCAD, and ETAP, will be used to analyse network behaviour, evaluate grid compliance, and assess the performance of the electrical protection system.

Scope of Work

  • Grid Impact Study
  • Steady-State Load Flow Analysis
  • Short Circuit Analysis
  • Generator, AVR, Excitation System and Governor Dynamic Response Assessment
  • RMS and EMT Simulation Model Development
  • Plant Model Validation
  • Reactive Power Capability and P–Q Analysis
  • Power Quality Assessment, including Harmonics, Flicker and DC Current Injection
  • Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) and High Voltage Ride Through (HVRT) Assessment
  • Operating Frequency Range and Frequency Response Analysis
  • Active Power Ramping Capability Assessment
  • Relay Coordination Study for 33 kV and 11 kV Systems
  • Time-Current Characteristic (TCC) Curve Preparation
  • Relay Setting Schedule and Protection Coordination Recommendations

Key Outcomes

The studies will provide a detailed understanding of the plant’s electrical performance, its impact on grid stability, and the adequacy of the existing protection system.

The assessment will support improved grid integration, verification of applicable grid compliance requirements, appropriate relay coordination, and reliable fault detection and isolation.

This project award further strengthens Power Projects’ expertise in Grid Impact Studies, RMS and EMT Simulations, Power Quality Analysis, and Protection Coordination Studies for thermal power generation and industrial electrical networks.

We thank our client for the trust and opportunity and look forward to delivering technically robust engineering solutions that support reliable power system operation.
