Why Take This Data Center Electrical Design Course?

A data center cannot afford an unplanned outage, so its electrical system must be safe, redundant and easy to maintain. This data center electrical design course covers both halves of the job: designing the system and proving it works. Here is what you gain.

Design and Analysis in One Programme

Most training covers either design or software. This course joins the two, so every design decision is checked with a study.

    Assignment-Based Learning

Each module ends with a project-style task, such as a load list, a redundant single-line diagram or a UPS sizing calculation.

    Redundancy Made Practical

Compare N, N+1, 2N and distributed-redundant architectures and learn which suits a given reliability target.

    Real Case Studies

Study hyperscale power systems, redundant UPS designs, arc flash scenarios and cooling-system motor loads.

    Practising Engineers as Trainers

Sessions are led live by Power Projects engineers who deliver power system studies for clients.

    Certificate and Ongoing Support

Earn a certificate of completion and keep getting help through doubt-clearing sessions and a participant group.

ETAP Power System Studies in the Data Center Electrical Design Course

The analysis track runs across 20 live sessions and more than 100 hours of cohort training. It starts with network modelling and moves through each study a data center design needs, using standards such as IEC 60909, IEEE 1584 and IEEE 519.

    SESSIONS 1–4

    Modelling Foundations

    • Study types and the ETAP workspace
    • Modelling buses, cables, lines and transformers
    • Load flow with transformer tap and power factor control
    • Generators, VFDs, cooling loads and renewable sources
    SESSIONS 5–14

    Fault, Motor & Protection Studies

    • Short circuit studies to IEC 60909 and IEC 61363
    • Static and dynamic motor acceleration
    • LV, MV and HV protection coordination
    • Directional overcurrent and earth fault protection
    SESSIONS 15–20

    Safety, Quality & Stability

    • Arc flash studies to IEEE 1584-2018 and NFPA 70E

Case studies include a hyperscale data center power system, a redundant design with static transfer switches, UPS and battery performance, arc flash safety, and cooling-motor and VFD analysis. You will also practise on solar plant models of 2 MW, 50 MW and 300 MW.

How the Data Center Electrical Design Course Is Taught

Every session moves from idea to practice, so you finish able to produce and review real design work. Reliability for data center power depends on many small decisions, and the course trains each one.

    1

    Concept Building

Understand the design intent, applicable codes and system architecture first.

    2

    Live Explanation and Demonstration

Watch calculations, equipment selection and ETAP studies worked step by step.

    3

    Practical Assignments

Prepare project-style calculations, drawings and ETAP models yourself.

    4

    Design Review and Doubt Solving

Get feedback on your work and clear doubts during and after the sessions.

    5

    Capstone and Certification

Combine everything into one coordinated design package and earn your certificate.
