We are happy to announce that we have bagged a project from one of the internationally known automobile spare parts manufacturing plants in Coimbatore, India.

The scope of work is to do site visits, collect various inputs required to perform Arc-Flash studies and also perform Electrical Safety Audit for the entire plant.

The plant is receiving power from TNEB at a 22kV voltage level and fed to 2500kVA main distribution transformer. The plant has 625kVA DG set to meet the critical and emergency loads in the absence of the utility power supply. The plant consists of 55 switchgears which comprises LV panels with fuses & LV MCCBs with releases. We need to ensure that all 55 switchgears are coordinated well and the fault-clearing time settings are keeping the Incident Energy Levels at a minimum.

Since the plant is 25+ years old, the plant has some old distribution panels with a fuse as a protective device to isolate the circuit in case of faults. The main challenge in this project is to perform protective device coordination with the fuses.

Arc Flash studies will be performed at each bus in accordance with IEEE 1584 – 2018 and IEEE 1584.1 – 2022, and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be recommended in accordance with NFPA-70E 2021 guidelines. ETAP 21.0.2 software will be used to perform the calculation of incident energy at a working distance and to generate the Arc-Flash Labels according to the incident energy level.

Congratulations to Selvakumar and Jeyakumar for bagging the project. And Congratulations to Ajith S for execution and performing the site visit.
