In recent events, there have been instances of uncoordinated trips occurring at both the Halul Terminal and the NFA complex. These trips resulted in upstream feeders tripping due to downstream faults, leading to partial blackouts within the facilities.

Project Overview:

Scope: Load Flow, Short Circuit, Relay Coordination & Unit Protection

Location: Qatar

Halul System Description:

The electrical power system of Halul Island is connected to the KAHRAMAA grid at Ras Laffan through a 132kV-rated submarine cable extending 1.5 km.

Two 125 MVA transformers, operating at a voltage level of 132/34.5 kV, supply power to the 33 kV GIS.

The plant comprises eight 18.75MVA transformers, operating at a voltage level of 33/11.5kV, which provide power to the 11kV switchgear.

There are 21 distribution transformers, operating at voltage levels of 11kV/0.69kV and 11kV/0.44kV, that supply power to various loads within the system.

NFA System Description:

  • Two generators with a rating of 15MVA are connected to the 6.6kV switchboard.
  • The plant includes six distribution transformers with two different ratings of 2000 and 2500 kVA, operating at a voltage level of 6.6/0.46 kV.
  • Additionally, there are two 800kVA EDGs, which supply power to critical loads during emergency conditions.
  • We extend our gratitude to the dedicated team members and partners whose unwavering efforts made this achievement possible.

Congratulations to Selvakumar S, Ajithkumar, Gunasekaran and Sathishkumaran T for bagging the project.

Congratulations to our team Madhan Raj, Mohamed Meeran, Mohammad Imran and Balaji for successful execution of the project.
