The Project scope is to perform an “Arc-Flash & Lightning Protection Study” for different Units available in the plant and provide suitable recommendations as per the study. Our Engineers, Mr Ajithkumar and Mr Dinesh has visited the site and collected the inputs required for the study.
System Description:
Utility power is received to the plant from the Grid via 11kV conductor, a Unit Transformer 11/0.4kV is feeding the main switchgear. When the grid source is not available, There are few number of Emergency Diesel Generators (EDG) for various units that serve as backup.
One of the unit in the plant has 75 buses which comprises both MV & LV switchgears. It’s interesting to do studies for such kind of existing projects.
This project location is in wide Sub-Urban area, Lightning calculation will be carried out and will be reviewed with the existing Lightning Protection System (LPS) which protects the complete areas from lighting Flashes.
Study Basis:
Arc Flash studies will be performed at each bus in accordance with IEEE 1584 – 2018 and IEEE 1584.1 – 2022, and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be recommended in accordance with NFPA-70E 2021 guidelines. ETAP 20.5 software will be used to run the simulation.
Lightning Protection requirements will be reviewed for all tallest buildings in accordance with IEC-62305 (part-1/2/3/4) for Risk Assessment, Structure, and Electrical & Electronic Protection, while also performing Earthing calculations in accordance with IS-3043:2018.
Congratulations to Selva Kumar , Digital Marketing team and Jeyakumar for bagging the project and adding a reputed client in our business portfolio.
